Costume Policy Acknowledgement
Costumes will be allowed for the Halloween Social. Students can bring them to school, but they can't wear them during the school day. They can put them on after school for the social. The following guidelines must be met for costumes:
  • If a teacher or staff member determines a costume is disruptive, the student will be asked not to wear it for the rest of the social.
  • Students are not allowed—ever—to come to school or the social with their entire face painted, to wear any type of mask, or to wear anything that conceals the face.
  • Students are not allowed to bring any objects that resemble weapons. These items are never permitted in schools, even as props for class activities – in accordance with state law.
  • Students are not allowed to use disabilities as the subject of costumes.
  • Students are not allowed to wear costumes that make fun of religious figures or sacred symbols.
  • Students are not allowed to wear costumes that make fun of someone’s body size or physical appearance.
