Whether you are new to Concord or a long-time resident new to CMS, the PTG is here to help smooth your transition into the school. The team has compiled here a few community resources to help as you settle in.

Get registered
Once you have established your Concord address, registering your child for CMS is now an online process. Follow the instructions on the district website.

 

Get to know the Parent Teacher Group (PTG)
We would love to meet you! Email your PTG president and board with any questions or just to say hello.  Or reach out to our new family coordinators.

 

Get connected
The CMS PTG is excited to offer a free digital directory available to all families.  Login is required for access to the digital directory.  Find detailed directions here for how to access, update your information, download the app.  We highly recommend once you register to download the app for a better user experience on your phone.

 

Get involved
By being active in the CMS PTG, you can familiarize yourself with CMS and be a positive part of your child’s educational experience at the same time. There are many opportunities to help out at levels to suit any schedule. Whether you're available during the school day or only on weekends, once a week, once a month or once a year…there is a role for you. Attend the next PTG Meeting, a PTG event and/or check out the open slots on our PTG committees!

 

CMS New Families FAQ

 

 

 

What is the role of my child’s HomeBASE (hB) teacher? What happens in HB?

Your child’s hB teacher serves as their advisor; almost every staff member at CMS has a small group (between 8-10) of students they advise. We spend the first ~15 minutes of every day with our advisory group, and 30 minutes every Wednesday. hB is a short advisory block at the start of the day where students check in, hear announcements, build community, and sometimes take part in social-emotional learning or organizational routines. This year, we are leaning more into academic advising, and all students will be building an academic portfolio that will be presented to their parents on parent conference day. 

 

 

Can I email teachers directly to ask questions or should I go through my child’s hB teacher?

You are always welcome to email teachers directly about their specific subject areas. The HB teacher is there if you’re unsure where to start or need general support. 

 

 

What is the role of my child’s guidance counselor?

Every CMS student is assigned a guidance counselor. Counselors support students’ academic, social-emotional, and future planning needs. They also serve as a bridge between school and home when larger patterns or concerns arise.

 

 

Who is Dan Hausermann and what is his role?

Dan Hausermann is the interim CMS Principal. He helps support students, staff, and families with academics, discipline, and daily school operations.

 

 

Who is Olive Bradford and what is her role?

Olive Bradford is the 6th and 8th grade Assistant Principal.  She helps support students, staff, and families with academics, discipline, and daily school operations.

 

 

Who is Langdon Morris and what is his role?

Langdon Morris is the 7th grade Interim Assistant Principal.  He helps support students, staff, and families with academics, discipline, and daily school operations.

 

 

Who do I contact if my child has or will miss a few days of school? How will my child catch up with school work?

If your child will be absent, please complete the CMS attendance form or notify the front office. Your child’s teachers will help them make up for missed work. 

 

 

Who do I contact if I’m worried about my child’s social-emotional experience?

You can reach out to your child’s guidance counselor first. The hB teacher can also help connect you to the right staff member.

 

 

What happens during snack/recess/lunch?

Students eat snacks mid-morning, have a lunch period with peers, and enjoy recess. That doc is found on The start of the '26/'27 CMS School Year Google Site under Lunch/Snack/Recess. 

 

 

Who do I contact if my child has a dismissal change?

Please call the front office at 978-318-1360.

 

 

What time should I arrive for pickup and how long does the pickup line take?

 

Information about school hours can be found on The start of the '26/'27 CMS School Year Google Site. The building opens at 8:05am and dismissal is at 1:20 on Wednesdays and 2:35 on M, T, Th, F. You can also find a map for information about pickup lines on the same google site. Please keep in mind that it takes time to get through the pick-up line. Please be patient and follow all staff instructions so we can keep students safe.

 

 

If someone else is picking up my child at dismissal, do I need to send a note? What if my child wants to walk to a friend’s house?

Yes, please notify the front office if anyone other than you is picking up your child. Your child can deliver a note to the front office when they arrive at school. For walking or alternate plans, a parent/guardian must provide written permission.

 

 

Can my child ride another bus? If they are riding their bus and getting off at another stop, what should I do?

 

We don't have this answer yet. It is not currently possible to ride another bus. If your child is riding their own bus, but getting off at a different stop, please contact the front office via email or with a written note and they will notify the bus driver. 

 

 

What is Back to School Night and who attends?

Back to School Night is an evening event for parents/guardians to meet teachers and learn about the school year. It is designed for adults, not students. A very detailed email will go out just about this event. The night is scheduled (Sept 24) and can be found The start of the '26/'27 CMS School Year Google Site  under summer and fall dates. 

 

 

Am I allowed in the building and what is the process for entering?

Yes. All visitors must enter through the main entrance, sign in at the office, and wear a visitor badge. A photo ID may be requested.
